Gerald S. Leischuck, who earned an EdD in education from Auburn in 1964, has viewed some of the world’s finest art collections during his travels with Emily, his late wife. These experiences expanded his understanding of the role that art plays in the mission of Auburn University. Both Gerald and Emily, longtime administrators at Auburn, have supported the arts through their philanthropy.
Today, Gerald is a proud supporter of the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art and most recently made a gift in Emily’s memory for the museum’s acquisition of Hope and Memory by Kenyon C. Cox. The painting — along with Gerald’s support — is a testament to the importance of programs that expand and enhance Auburn’s educational experience.
