be a part of the auburn oaks legacy

As part of the redevelopment of Samford Park, 10 descendants of the original Auburn Oaks, planted in March 2016, now line the new concourse extending from Toomer’s Corner to Samford Hall.

Be  part of the Auburn Oaks legacy by naming one of these trees through a philanthropic gift that will prepare students for a lifetime of success by creating new scholarships, enable our faculty to inspire our students while remaining experts in their fields, and build our academic programs that prepare our students for the careers of the next century.

Click the image above for a video about the trees and planting process, or read the March 10, 2016, news release.

Individuals, families, companies and foundations can name one of these trees for themselves or someone of their choosing in recognition of a $50,000 philanthropic gift to Auburn.

Contributions will go into an endowed fund for excellence benefiting the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, which has nurtured these Auburn Oaks descendants since initially collecting the acorns. This fund for excellence will provide support for new scholarships; expand faculty members’ instructional, research, and outreach efforts; and enhance the various programs that provide students with the knowledge and hands-on experience they need to be successful in their chosen careers.

Naming Recognition

Each tree can be “named” by its donor in recognition of his or her gift, in honor of someone else, or in memory of someone who has passed away.

A 4 ½” high x 6″ wide brass plaque mounted on a granite plinth (see examples to the right) will be placed near the base of each donor’s tree to pay tribute to the donor providing support through the Auburn Oaks at Samford Park or someone of the donor’s choosing.

As part of the formal donation agreement, donors can provide information about their recommended namings, which will be subject to approval by the Auburn University Foundation and Auburn University Board of Trustees.
